Baby Name by Nakshatra
Find the auspicious starting syllables for your baby's name based on their birth nakshatra and pada.
How Does Nakshatra-Based Naming Work?
In Vedic tradition, a baby's name is chosen based on the nakshatra (lunar mansion) and pada (quarter) of the Moon at the time of birth. Each of the 27 nakshatras is divided into 4 padas, and each pada has specific starting syllables assigned to it.
Naming the child with these syllables is believed to create harmony between the child and their cosmic blueprint. This ancient practice is still widely followed across India and Hindu communities worldwide.
Why is Birth Time Important?
The Moon changes nakshatra approximately every day, and moves through each pada in about 6 hours. An accurate birth time ensures the correct nakshatra and pada are identified, leading to the right syllable recommendations.
If you don't know the exact birth time, the calculator will use noon as default, which may still give the correct nakshatra for most of the day.
